Opera Mini + Free Globe 3G rocks!

It has been like months since I was deprived from the PC internet. It’s one of the reasons why this blog is still empty(yah, sucks!). But thanks to the brilliant minds on esato.com, they figured a way out to hack gain free access to Globe and Smart’s 3g networks and Opera Mini is one of the mobile apps that took advantage out of it.

Opera Mini is one of the best mobile internet browsers out there. The guys at esato modded it to have free internet access which works very well on my phone. It loads full websites sans flash[No Facebook games, youtube etc.].

As long as your phone supports J2ME(Mobile Java), it will run. Here are some of the phones where I tried installing it.

• Sony Ericsson K800i – It works great! No Lags!
• Sony Ericsson K750i – It works great but since the screen res is on the low side.
• Sony Ericsson K600i – Same like the k750i, It works but it lags when “big” websites are loaded.
• Nokia 6267 – Nokia’s Java implementation sucks on this phone, looks dated when compared to Sony. It works, screen res is adequate but it’s slow…

I recommend that you try this app on your phone! It’s very useful for updating your status on Twitter/Plurk/Facebook or quick google search but it will never replace a true PC internet experience.
